“I’m a little bit scared to be here because I don’t want to create the image that I’m a victim. Yes, I am a gay man, but that’s all. It’s not a big issue. I grew up in a small village and I felt scared when I was younger because I was the only person I knew who was gay. But now I know I am not the only one and it’s not so special. I’m just a normal person and I have a good life. Sometimes I realize how privileged I am because I know in many places it’s not easy to be gay. I’m always thankful for all those who came before me and fought for my rights. And I try to do everything possible to make those rights apply to everyone.”
