“I hear difficult stories from others who have struggled so I know that I am lucky. I’ve always felt accepted and have a very supportive family. I first came out to my mom and she instantly told me she loved me and it was completely fine in our house. She had questions, but that was okay. No one else in my family is bisexual or gay or lesbian so they weren’t used to it, but it was accepted from the beginning. Even my conservative grandparents sent me a message saying that they loved me for who I am. All of it was really heartwarming. I had spent a lot of time worrying about how people would respond. I always knew I was a lesbian, but I even kept it from myself for about six years and tried hard to deny it. I’m so happy that everyone responded in such a positive way.”

“Maybe I just fall in love when I fall in love and the labels don’t matter.”

“They’re worried I’m not going to give them grandchildren.”
