“When I was younger, every time I looked in the mirror, I felt like I wasn’t good enough. My body wasn’t good enough. My personality wasn’t good enough. I had been feeling so many negative feelings for so long, at some point I just want to turn them off and feel nothing. So I tried to change how I thought. Every time I looked in the mirror or had a conversation with someone and I thought I wasn’t good enough, I just told myself that I was. I said to myself, ‘Screw that, you are good enough.’ It doesn’t matter what people think. It doesn’t even matter what I think. Because some things just are.”

“Everything changed when I turned 37.”

“I wish they wouldn’t have to say anything, it would just be accepted.”

“I had to be really open and patient with her while she tried to understand me and my life.”
